Welcome to Split, city older than 1700 years. Split is the largest city in Dalmatia, and second largest city in Croatia. Center of Split is ancient Diocletian’s Palace from 4th century which is under UNESCO protection from 1979. The origin of its name is from yellow plant called broom. Greek name for it is Aspalathos and Italian name for it is Spalato. In Split You can find a lot of things, whether You like history, culture, sport or You just want to have some fun. Some of them are ancient Diocletian’s Palace, Peristil, Jupiter’s Temple, cathedral st. Domnius, square Prokurative. On the other hand, You can also visit some of the museums such as Arheological museum, Art gallery, Natural History Museum or maybe Croatian National Theatre. In summer days are very popular Days of Diocletian where You can take a picture with ancient Roman warriors. Also, at that time are held festivals like Split summer and Split summer festival (music festival). Split is also well known by football club Hajduk which is founded in 1911 in Prague by Split's students. Their home is on Poljud where You can find big stadium which is built in 1979 during VIII. Mediterranean Games. One of the most popular event in summer is Ultra Music Festival that is held on stadium Poljud.
